Premier League Prediction Game

Another weekend of Barclays English Premier League action on the way and what a weekend it promises to be! Manchester United vs. Arsenal at Old Trafford and Tottenham vs. Chelsea at White Heart Lane. It's always a nice when the premier league heats up just in time to combat the oncoming winter chill.

As always 1 for a home win, 2 for an away win and X for a draw. $10 if you guess all ten fixtures
correctly. Submit guesses on the comment forum please. Also home teams are listed first. Ok lets have at it!

12/11

1. Aston Villa vs. West Brom (10:00 E.T. 9:00 C.T. ; FSC)
West Brom have scored seven goals in their last to games, both wins one of which was
away 4-1 against Everton, and are now sitting pretty in 9th position in the Barclays Premier League. Conversely, Villa's defensive form has been woeful of late, epitomized by their three nil defeat to liverpool last weekend. However, the Villans can look forward to the return of Ashley Young from injury. Still, Villa's young midfield does not provide enough protection for their strong but sluggish center backs.
Bosque's Prediction: X

2. Everton vs. Wigan Athletic (10:00 E.T. 9:00 C.T.)

Everton have now slipped to 15th in the table and our well over due to climb out of one their notoriously slow starts to the season. I don't think Wigan have enough to compete with the Everton midfield, especially Tim "Kangaroo" Cahill, as well as the
barnstorming runs of Leighton Baines from the left back position.
Bosque's Prediction: 1

3. Fulham vs. Sunderland (10:00 E.T. 9:00 C.T.)
I watched Fulham host Birmingham at Craven Cottage two weeks ago and I feel safe saying they were atrocious for 89 minutes and only rescued a point when their talismanic american Clint Dempsey showed some heart and beat out the Birmingham defenders on a corner kick scramble. Whatever combination of Welbeck, Gyan, and Bent that Steve Bruce decides to play this week, if not all three, will be too much to handle for the Cottagers.
Bosque's Prediction: 2

4. Stoke City vs. Blackpool (10:00 E.T. 9:00 C.T.)
Right now I would not fancy playing Stoke City no matter what kind of rest I was coming off of. Blackpool's two week hiatus from football doesn't help them because Etherington's sumptuous delivery and Jones's prodigious leap are not something that will be stopped when
both players are in form and at home.
Bosque's Prediction: 1

5. West Ham vs. Manchester City (10:00 E.T. 9:00 C.T. ; ESPN3.com)
Bottom of the table West Ham are not going to be able to trouble a City side that, dare I say it, are beginning to play like a team. City proved me wrong last week by showing some character in a 1-0 win at home to Bolton. City. No Carlos "el furio feo" Tevez, don't even worry about it.
Bosque's Prediction: 2

6. Newcastle vs. Liverpool (12:30 E.T. 11:30 C.T. ; FSC)
Joey "mustachio" Barton and Kevin "the force" Nolan return to the Newcastle side this week against Liverpool. However, Chris "easily won prem league promotion" Hutton will not after his shock firing this week. Alan "Name Drop" Pardew takes over. Liverpool for their part have been steadily climbing the table thanks, in part, to the goon squad midfield duo of Meireles and Lucas. I actually think Newcastle may have more midfield class then liverpool.
Bosque's Prediction: X

12/12

7. Bolton vs. Blackburn (8:30 E.T. 7:30 C.T.)
This fixture will be a real test of Bolton's mettle as you can expect Blackburn to press them
all over the pitch. Blackburn even has some class to throw around with Dunn and Pederson in the midfield. This one could be back and forth flowing soccer but more likely will be a set piece showdown.
Bosque's Prediction: X

8. Wolves vs. Birmingham (8:30 E.T. 7:30 C.T.)
You can expect Birmingham to come out with their usual clean sheet mentality and settle for the odd goal on the counter attack. Wolves will attack with the fury and desperation, but lack of ingenuity.
Bosque's Prediction: X

9. Tottenham vs. Chelsea (11:00 E.T. 10:00 C.T. ; FSC)
I think that it is fair to say that Chelsea are desperate to return to winning ways let alone
return to the top of the Premier League Table. It has been weeks (glorious weeks) since Chelsea last won a game. Unfortunately for them, Spurs, if not always defending well, are
scoring at will. Not a good sign for the frail Chelsea defense of late. I cannot wait to watch this clash of speed and power.
Bosque's Prediction: 1

10. Manchester United vs. Arsenal (3:00 E.T. 2:00 C.T. ; ESPN2)
Man U has the best home record and the Gunners have the best away record. Nani and

Nasri have been arguably the two best attacking players in the prem

this year (of course Gareth Bale deserves a spot so lets
make it a trio). Also, Arshavin has shown signs of a return to form along with Carrick for United. Last year United were lucky to come away with a win. In fact, they only won because of a terrible, awful,
disgraceful penalty kick call. No I have not forgiven nor forgotten. Both teams have shown signs of championship soccer but have also been guilty of giving away what should be comfortable leads.
Bosque's Prediction: 1

Fun Stats-
Bosques overall record: 14/29 (48.27%)
Last Weeks Winner: RoSch 5/9 ... *first player to get over half correct
